Inhalt

With all the current hype around AI for writing, translation, and content creation, one powerful capability often receives far less attention: using AI to build the exact tools you need to support your daily work.

This tutorial expands on a presentation given at tcworld conference 2023, where I showed how the tools included in Microsoft 365 can be used to create and automate a simple but effective, searchable terminology solution for an entire company. Since then, that idea has been taken much further – by deliberately “vibe coding” with AI.

The session demonstrates how AI was used to explore ideas, solve seemingly insurmountable problems, and gradually evolve this original approach into a full terminology ecosystem: improved terminology management and lookup, plus powerful terminology checking integrated directly into the CMS and other content creation tools – using Microsoft 365 tools throughout.

Without diving into every technical detail, the tutorial focuses on what worked, what didn’t, and lessons learned along the way. The goal is to inspire participants to confidently use AI to fill skill gaps, experiment boldly, and develop solutions tailored to their own requirements.

Das lernen Sie

  • How to prep AI sessions effectively
  • Steering AI to usable solutions
  • What to do when AI goes wrong
  • Capturing and reusing AI conversations
  • Turning vague ideas into concrete tools
  • Practical tips and tricks along the way

Vorkenntnisse

Basic experience with terminology work and curiosity about using AI beyond writing and translation. No programming or development knowledge is required.

Biografie

As Technical Editor for English documentation at B&R Industrial Automation, I bring several years of experience developing and optimizing translation and terminology strategies for complex technical content. My work spans a wide range of domains – from control technology and engineering software to robotics and motion systems. I focus on identifying inefficiencies and implementing practical solutions in terminology management, translation workflows, and content handling. Whether it’s refining review processes, improving tool integration, or eliminating repetitive tasks, my goal is to make technical communication smarter, faster, and more sustainable. Beyond my daily work, I am an active member of the tekom Working Group for Terminology in Technical Communication (AG TTK).
