While voice assistants offer various benefits over chat, it can become a challenge when you are trying to find the right voice. In our talk we cover the following aspects:

• Distribution of audience; trust and empathy

• Gender: implications of masculine, feminine and genderless (neuter)

• Cultural stereotypes and biases; impact of gender on user behavior

• Age: cultural stereotypes, biases, and perceptions

• Accent: biases and standards

The objective is to show how different aspects in voice AI design can affect trust, perception, and acceptance. The participants will learn about cultural stereotypes and biases, and how these affect human behavior.

Vorkenntnisse

No prior knowledge is required. Interesting to all, approachable for beginner level and up, but mainly for anyone interested in designing voice AI.

Marianne has worked for SAP SE for over 20 years, and since 2016 has mainly focused on conversation design. Currently Marianne is a project manager for an internal conversational AI project. She has also created and teaches basic and advanced training courses on conversation design.

Marianne Macgregor is a user assistance development architect and certified conversation designer at SAP, with over 20 years of experience helping users navigate complex enterprise software. She specializes in generative AI, focusing on prompt engineering training and support, and is a co-creator of SAP’s internal promptathons – collaborative learning events designed to explore the potential of generative AI. Marianne is passionate about making emerging technologies approachable, practical, and impactful through hands-on learning and clear communication. Marianne regularly speaks at global conferences on these topics.

Gabi Buchner is an experienced translator, writer, and trainer with a strong focus on integrating AI into language-centric workflows. With a background in conversation design for AI assistants, she leads innovative projects at SAP that explore how large language models and AI agents can support writing, translation, and terminology work. She regularly runs prompting workshops and training sessions to help professionals develop practical skills in generative AI. Gabi also addresses the multilingual, multicultural, and ethical dimensions of AI assistants and has shared her insights through blogs and talks at global conferences.
