Inhalt

The speakers present how a translation workflow can be automated with a “Language Factory” solution. They explain what a Language Factory is, what requirements must be met for its development and how it is used. Technical components and workflow steps are described. In addition, the example of Roche Diagnostics shows how existing systems for terminology management and machine translation can be integrated and what it means for stakeholders.

Chiara Baffelli has been working as a Terminology & Language Solution Expert at Roche Diagnostics in Rotkreuz since 2016, where she is responsible for maintaining and training MT engines and other language solutions as well as working on terminology management in English and Italian for various products in different areas. She has a Master in English and Italian Linguistics and NLP from University of Zürich, with focus on machine translation. She has coding experience in Python for NLP and data analysis.

Jochen Hummel is CEO of ESTeam AB, a provider of LangOps solutions and Language Factories. He is also co-founder and CEO of Coreon, the leading SaaS solution for multilingual knowledge systems. He serves as vice-Chairman of LT-Innovate, the forum for Europe's language technology industry.

Originally a developer, he built his first company, TRADOS, into the world leader in translation memory and terminology software. In 2006, he founded Metaversum and served as its CEO until 2010. He is an internationally recognized and respected software manager and serial entrepreneur.
