Inhalt

Digital Product Passports (DPPs) will soon be mandatory for many products sold in the EU. This presentation introduces the concept of DPPs, outlines what kind of information they require, and shows how existing content and tools in the technical communication process can be reused to deliver them efficiently. Learn how you can contribute to a greener climate, help shape your organization’s DPP strategy and add new value through content reuse and smart delivery.

A DPP is structured digital content that supports sustainability, circularity, and regulatory compliance throughout the product lifecycle. Each passport is unique to an individual product serial number and may include data on identification, material composition, durability, energy use, environmental impact, repair, recycling, and legal compliance. This information must be accessible to users via interfaces like QR codes. For technical communicators, this presents both a challenge and an opportunity: to extend content practices into a new regulatory domain and contribute to greener product strategies.
