Tech Comm and Localization often seem like a chicken-and-egg problem: where one ends, the other begins. The last couple of years have changed this paradigm.
With docs-as-code, single-sourcing, and several layers of automation in the publishing process, both domains cooperate more closely than ever. Consequently, the drive to automate and apply AI is solid, and many routes exist. However, while business usually needs everything done ASAP, taking shortcuts may backfire very quickly. Planning automation begins with a deeper understanding of the touchpoints between the authoring and localization teams. We no longer live in a world of source content and target moving in cascade processes. In addition, popular authoring and translation environments were designed years ago and are therefore losing many of the GenAI revolution's benefits. But beware: some quick LLM-based wins come at a price. The presentation will look at certain automation areas: creating, moving, localizing, and maintaining multilingual content while using the capabilities of several automation tools and GPTs.
